It was actually announced that Netflix was planning to adapt Mark Millar's Prodigy back when the comic debuted back in 2018, but we haven't had any updates since. However, a new report now claims that the project is officially a go at the streaming service.

According to Discussing Film, Eternals scribes Matthew and Ryan Firpo have been hired to write the screenplay. We don't have any other details for the moments, but here's what Millar had to say to Deadline about this small-screen take on Prodigy when the news first broke.

The entire Millarworld library Netflix acquired when they bought our company last year has a crazy number of franchises, but I wanted to do one that genuinely topped them all,” said Millar, referencing the multi-media deal he inked with Netflix in 2017. “Stan created the Marvel Universe, but he’s best-remembered for Spider-Man. Ian Fleming created Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but he’ll always be known for Bond. So I wanted to create the character that outshines everything else I’ve ever done and that’s Edison Crane.”

Prodigy tells the story of the "smartest man in the world," Edison Crane. Nobel-Prize winning scientist, genius composer, Olympic-level athlete and an expert in the occult, Crane is not content with any of it, and seeks out new ventures to stimulate his vast intellect.

It remains to be seen if Prodigy and the Crane character will live up to Millar's high expectations.

Jupiter's Legacy will be the first Millarworld adaptation to hit Netflix, but we don't have a premiere date yet.
