New Zealand has pretty much stamped out COVID-19, so productions such as Avatar 2 and The Lord of the Rings are able to safely resume shooting in the coming weeks. In the case of the former, the crew will be getting back to work in the coming days, and producer Jon Landau has now shared a very intriguing behind the scenes photo.

As you can see, a command vessel and "jetboat" are shown here, both of which will presumably be used by the movie's humans in a sequel believed to be set primarily underwater.

Production on Avatar 2 wasn't really delayed too much, so chances are it will still arrive in theaters next December as planned. That's good news, as it's already been eleven years since we saw the first instalment, so it's hard to say whether these planned follow-ups will be able to recapture the same level of success as James Cameron's original.
