At the heels of the lightweight and rugged off-roading teardrop trailer, Bean Stock 2.0; Utah-based Bean Trailer has taken a twist. The twist is little in the basic intention, but in the space, as it is opening up on the inside to make other toy-hauling tiny trailers look cramped. If the company is to be believed, the new Bean Pod has a spacious interior, which makes at least a “foot of additional interior storage space compared to most gear hauler trailers.”
A larger population of teardrop travel trailers we come by – including the previous iterations from Bean Trailer itself – have a compact living and sleeping space inside. For the more outdoorsy, this space feels way too limited, especially if they are willing to take the trailer for a weekend spin hauling the adventure gear along. To make this more pleasing and less cramped up, Bean Trailer has introduced the Bean Pod, a towable teardrop trailer that has de-cluttered the interior for gear storage and has a rooftop tent for sleeping.
Designer: Bean Trailer
Designed by Bean Trailer, the Pod is reliable, durable, and tactfully compact, but by no stretch of the imagination, low on storage space. It has an overlapped aluminum shell featuring rain gutters and is structurally built to withstand the toughest conditions. Bean Pod weighs 1,400 lb., comes in 18 different color options, and is outfitted with a rooftop tent, which means the interior is left vacant for all the storage needs and gear-hauling requirements. The trailer rides on beefy, 33-inch all-terrain tires and is provided with air suspension for a smooth ride on the roughest terrains.
The interior of the Bean Pod may seem barren from all the discussions we have had above, but that’s not the case. The cabin is accessible from both sides and features a space and tie-down points to hold bags and other gear while traveling. A wide shelf provides more storage space, and a dedicated tray holds an air compressor in place. For dining, there is a four-foot folding table with a built-in bench that stores neatly against the wall when not needed. The space above the roof can be used to store a paddleboard, a kayak, or similar gear.
The storage is not only reserved for the interior, but the exterior is well equipped for additional gear. For instance, Molle panels on the side make space for storing shovels and exterior lights, while a short deck on the front has mounts to carry a dirt bike. The mounting brackets on the roof rack permit easy rooftop tent setup, turning the gear hauler into a full-fledged camping trailer for two. Most existing here is a side-mounted galley equipped with a cooktop, sink, fridge, water storage, and plenty of storage space. The tailgate drops down for more storage and a make-shift prep area when you’re camped. Since the Bean Pod is prepared for off-the-grid living, it has its own 72-gallon water tank, Yeti power station, and provision for solar panels. There is no word yet on its exact pricing, but Bean Pod is expected to retail between $19,999 and $28,000 when it starts shipping in Fall of this year. If you’re interested, Bean Trailer is taking pre-orders, and you can reserve your toy hauler today for a $250 pre-order deposit.
