The James Brand, founded in Portland in 2012, is recognized for crafting minimalist, premium everyday carry (EDC) tools designed with intention and utility. On the other end of the spectrum, the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, based in Enstone, UK, competes in the FIA World Championship and is known for its engineering rigor and performance under pressure. Together, these two brands have collaborated to create a limited-edition EDC collection that merges racing DNA with refined product design.

Launched ahead of the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, the James Brand × BWT Alpine F1 Team Collection reflects a shared commitment to precision and performance. The partnership delivers a set of compact tools built for both everyday functionality and motorsport aesthetics. Priced between $25 and $85, the collection is accessible to a broad audience while retaining the craftsmanship that defines both brands.

Designer: The James Brand

By merging cultural relevance with technical execution, the James Brand × BWT Alpine F1 Team Collection EDC transcends simple co-branding. It delivers a functional, stylish lineup for those who value performance in their tools and carry items. For fans of motorsport or those drawn to thoughtfully designed gear, this EDC collection offers a tangible link between lifestyle and racing finesse.

Palmer Knife and Mehlville Carabiner

One of the key pieces in the collection is The Palmer, a utility knife designed with a slim profile and a tool-free blade change mechanism. This release comes finished in Alpine’s distinctive Liquid Blue and Sport Pink colorway—a nod to the vibrant look of the F1 team’s race cars. The knife is compact yet reliable, making it a practical companion for daily tasks.

Also featured is the Mehlville, a carabiner machined from solid billet aluminum. With a dual-compartment design to separate keys from other gear and a built-in bottle opener, it’s engineered for real-world use. Its minimal lines and durability echo the efficiency of Alpine’s approach to car development.

Warrick multitool, Halifax Multitool, and Ulu lanyard

The Warrick multitool is another standout. It offers four WIHA bits housed in a compact driver format that fits easily in a coin pocket. Designed with portability and quick accessibility in mind, it reflects the kind of rapid adjustments seen in an F1 pit lane. Similarly, the Halifax multitool, small enough to fit on a keychain, offers multiple functions while maintaining the clean aesthetic the James Brand is known for.

Completing the lineup is the Ulu lanyard bead, which enhances tool retrieval and adds a pop of color that aligns with the team’s branding. Though subtle, it plays a functional role in ensuring quick access, particularly in fast-paced environments.

Beyond color schemes and logos, the collaboration is grounded in mutual values. Each item has been selected and approved by the Alpine F1 team, ensuring the tools meet real-world demands. The design process reflects the same level of care and refinement that goes into a race car, but scaled for the needs of everyday life.
