Now that Black Friday deals are wrapping up, Amazon has already switched all of its messaging to Cyber Monday. And to back it up, there is already a surprising new deal I didn't think we'd see at all this year. The new Asus ROG Xbox Ally was released back in October along the Xbox Ally X and this is the first time it has ever been discounted.

The regular Xbox Ally wasn't nearly as popular as the Xbox Ally X at launch, largely because it isn't nearly as powerful. We reviewed the Xbox Ally X and found it to be the overall best gaming handheld PC in existence right now. The standard Xbox Ally is more comparable to the Steam Deck with a a much lower price tag than the $1,000 the X version costs.

The main differences between the two models lies in the specs. The standard Xbox Ally runs on the AMD Ryzen Z2 A chipset while the more powerful model comes packing the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. The Xbox Ally also comes with less storage, with only a 512GB SSD compared to the 1TB in the Ally X. That can be easily remedied by upgrading the storage separately, but that would only add to the cost.

"The reason to buy the Xbox Ally over the Xbox Ally X is the much lower price point."

The reason to buy the Xbox Ally over the Xbox Ally X is the much lower price point. With this discount, the standard Ally is now half the price of the Ally X. It may not be powerful enough to run all of the modern AAA games with ease, but it can still play pretty much any compatible PC game and works great for remote play if you already have an Xbox. It also comes equipped with the Xbox Full Screen Experience right off the bat.

If you're holding out for a discount the Xbox Ally X, I wouldn't keep holding your breath. The Xbox Ally X is on backorder until January right now and is probably too popular to get a price cut until something better comes out to take its place as the "best gaming handheld pc".
