Ben Affleck is set to direct and star in Universal Pictures' Ghost Army, based on the book, The Ghost Army of World War II, by Rick Beyer and Elizabeth Sayles, according to Variety.

The film will also follow the documentary of the same name, with Affleck reworking the script that was most recently written by True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto, and a prior draft by Shazam!'s Henry Gayden.

Ghost Army is based on a true story of a squadron of recruits from the creative realm of art schools and ad agencies, who had to trick Nazi's into thinking the U.S. had more troops than they did by using methods such as sound-effects records and inflatable tanks to deceit them.
